Team ICU Channel Swim · 19 October 2021

Southmead Hospital Charity is the official charity of North Bristol NHS Trust. Together with our donors and fundraisers we deliver world-class projects and comforting items over and above what the NHS funds, to make the biggest difference to patients and their families.

Story

Hi everyone!
The team from ICU (plus some friends and relations) are swimming the equivalent distance of the English Channel to raise money for the ICU garden.

We are swimming 136 lengths of the lake in a relay, to make up the 21 mile distance as a team. We will also be selling tea and cakes on the side so that supporters can come along and cheer on the swimmers in comfort!

The garden is so important to us because it will provide a space that our patients can easily access where they can breathe air that hasn't been through the world's most intense air con system, and can hear noises that aren't alarms. Plants are great for us all and the colours, smells and textures of the garden will be a positive experience for patients and their relatives who are having the worst time.

Thanks in advance and see you there if you can make it- all support always welcome!!

If you would like any further info on providing support or are a member of staff who wants to donate lengths, talk to myself, Clare Quigley, Ellie Scanlon, or Hannah Popper.
