Story
I am hoping the outline of ‘The Challenge’ Ian Waddell is undertaking from 12th May to 16th May 2009 to raise funds for Combat Stress will cause you to give consideration to supporting what is without doubt an extreme endeavour of what can only be described as ‘Steps beyond the limit’.
Ian, at 71 years of age will attempt to cover a continuous footpath that circumnavigated the Thames Basin. This path is 269 miles in length and the target is 100 hours nonstop – 6 days, 4 nights- no sleep.
Ian will leave Westminster Abbey shortly before noon on Tuesday 12th May just before the Service to commemorate 90 years since Combat Stress has formed starts. H.R.H The Prince of Wales as patron will be in attendance.
From London the route takes in Uxbridge, Berkhamstead, Leighton Buzzard, Milton Keynes, Daventry, Banbury, Oxford, Abingdon, Reading, Marlow, Maidenhead, Windsor as well as many smaller places. So publicity will be at its maximum throughout, giving any potential sponsor maximum coverage.
Ian intends finishing at Combat Stress Headquarters just outside Leatherhead by 1500 hours on Saturday 16th May.
Overall, for someone half his age, mentally and physically an enormous endeavour and hopefully you will think the same and through Ian’s efforts you will support Combat Stress.
I thank you in advance for all your help and support.
