Story
On Saturday 25th –Sunday 26th August, myself and 4 friends (including my brother Roger) will be attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge.
This entails climbing (and descending) the 3 biggest mountains in the UK all within a 24 hour window, and yes that also includes the driving portion!!
As newbie mountaineers we are training everyday with quiet confidence that we can tame these molehills within a day, but what would greatly help propel us up and down each peak will be any generous contribution you can make to this incredibly worthwhile cause.
Buhinga School in Fort Portal region in Uganda was a well-run school before Idi Amin's dictatorship. Neglect and a lack of government funding has resorted to the school being run down and dilapidated with the state effectively unable to support it.
A school originally built for 180 pupils now caters for over 1600! Many classes have close to 100 pupils. The classrooms and teaching quarters should have been condemned and were in dire need of being rebuilt. Yet classes had to continue with the increasing number of pupils attending daily classes and teachers teaching for an average wage of less than $50 a month.
The school motto is 'The struggle continues' and puts into perspective
what the word struggle can really reflect.
Through our fundraising to date we have managed to make a difference with new classrooms, latrine facilities and structural safety work.
However our work continues so please dig deep and donate now, every penny will go towards changing lives for the better.
