Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On four days in May, five of us will be walking the entire length of the Ridgeway National Trail (87 miles from Avebury in Wiltshire to Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire) to raise money for PACE. None of us could be termed young and although it will be a significant (and painful) challenge, it will be nothing compared to the challenge that PACE kids go through every day.
PACE is a ground-breaking charity that transforms the lives of children and young people with motor disorders, such as cerebral palsy. PACE works with children who by a quirk of fate have suffered a neurological impairment, typically at or around birth, and who therefore struggle to do the things that most of us take for granted.
The good news is that specialist centres like PACE are able to work with children to help them to overcome their motor impairment, to become as independent as possible and to reach their full potential in life. That's great news for those children and their families and ultimately its good for all of us as greater independence means less reliance on public services and charities in later life. But that early intervention comes at a cost, and PACE has to raise around £1m a year to provide its life-changing services.
Please support me if you can with a donation to PACE (large or small). It all counts!
Thanks,
Ian
