Story
My two "friends" Chris Webb and James Brent have basically stitched me up. They both know what I think of Cheerleaders in English football (although our Angels are very good club ambassadors I would add) and they also know what I think about dressing up in women's clothes and people that make a spectacle of themselves on our hallowed turf.
However, the challenge has been thrown down, and I have to accept.
The challenge is, I have to lead out the Argyle Angels in full Angel gear at the Wycombe Wanderers match on the evening of 16th September. There will be NO dancing, but I will have to shake my Pom Poms during my short stint on the pitch.
Now for the serious bit.
In recent year three Argyle fans that I know, have been affected by Cystic Fibrosis, a much missed Dan Maddock passed away about 5 years ago after a long battle with the illness.
Andy Soper a pal of mine in New Zealand (a massive PAFC fan and a PASOTI Moderator), has a Daughter in Law with the disease and she I believe is one of the longest living sufferers in the World (certainly in New Zealand).
The latest to touch me, and this one has really hit home, is young Fletcher Argyle Keen, he's 6 months old, one of the bonniest lads I've ever seen and is the son of a mate Neil Keen. I know what Neil and Jo-Ann have gone through since they've found out, and I intend to earn quite a bit of dosh for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in any way I can.
Our club has been brilliant, via James Brent (Chairman of PAFC) I have been able to donate a signed ball, and I will soon be in a position to donate a signed and framed Argyle (new striped) shirt.
We also have a once in a lifetime auction planned for next year, and the prize donated by James is a doozy but more on that later.
So, because of young Fletcher, I am running out in a wig and Cheerleaders gear for the Wycombe match, and I'm asking for a few quid from you guys in the meantime. It hasn't got to be a fortune, James Brent has already pledged £1000 for this cause (as well as another £1000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of another Argyle fan, Jean Derrick).
So, fivers and tenners would be nice, and don't forget your Gift Aid, peeps.
Thanks for your time and let's help beat this horrible affliction, if not a cure, new drugs and treatment will go a long way to helping the sufferers and families I am sure.
