Story
The Grenadier Guards have a fine tradition and is a well- respected Infantry Battalion. With Afghanistan and Iraq having been the most recent conflicts the Battalion have been involved.
It has come at a price however, and sadly they suffered a large amount of injured and bereaved colleagues during five tours of duty. This is where the " Colonels Fund" their registered charity plays a huge role
This funding helps wounded and bereaved spouses with welfare and counselling to help them move forward. The physical injures are obvious but the psychological damage can be even more of a challenge in the longer term.
A most recent and very successful project has been to arrange for a group of injured veterans from all over the country, to play golf in Scotland at some of the most iconic golf courses.
This includes several people who have until recently never played the sport. The whole experience has been shown to have an enormous and positive impact on the rehabilitation of the individuals concerned.
It makes sense therefore to continue with this project and for me as captain at Helensburgh to lend my support to this worthwhile cause.
I hope you will consider supporting me on the 12th June by making a small contribution to their registered charity.
