Story
I'm cycling from London to St Ives in Cornwall - its about 400 miles by bike - that's quite a long way. I originally planned this as just a trek for my own good - but then several people suggested i set up a fundraising page.
Lea Rowing Club has been a bit of a life changer for me - it is for lots of other people too. It was quite by chance that i started rowing there 5 years ago, i didn't go to Oxford or Cambridge and i don't work in law... but when i moved to Stoke Newington i found a club that was fun and exciting and with a crazy mix of lovely people from all walks of life - its not your average rowing club for sure.
Now - being that it isn't an average rowing club also sadly means that its not flush with cash. We're currently trying to rebuild our Junior and recreational-rower boathouse. We need to expand as the club grows, we need to work with more schools in the local area, we need to give people more space to train together so that they learn quickly and truly engage with the sport and get the most out of it. We also need to do that in a building that doesn't leak through holes in the roof -- that would be nice. Anything you can donate to this worthy cause will make a big difference to kids in Hackney, Haringey and Waltham Forest who row at our club and help us to offer places to more of them in the future.
So anyway - i'm setting off in 3 days time, i'll be gone for two weeks - so thank-you in advance for any donations.
Thanks for listening!
