Dellow boys' sponsored silence for the silent · 17 May 2020
IMPORTANT message: please read before sponsoring me - or not! (updated on 28/5/2020 following fundraising attempt):
My Boys did brilliantly and achieved their silence targets (see below) – "well done N and C x." Unfortunately I wasn’t able to achieve the specified 3 continuous days of silence.
I tried hard: I started on Sunday afternoon, between Monday and Thursday afternoons I probably spoke no more than around 10-15 actual words in total. I did quite a few re-starts but I still couldn’t manage beyond 24 hours straight without an accidental slip up or two whenever I wasn’t concentrating. I hate giving up, but it’s not really possible to keep trying to achieve this with the family at home - and I could still be trying for 3 days straight in July if I did keep trying!
I will be suspending this page shortly (on 6/6/20) and I will endeavour to contact everyone who sponsored me before this message.
InHope is an amazing charity, so if you still want to give after this date, please can you go directly to their website: https://inhope.uk/
Thanks
Ian

Below is information about the charity, and my original pre-event story:
______________________________________________________________________
I will be doing a 3 day sponsored silence over the May half-term. My eldest son (aged 10) will join me for 24 hours and my youngest (aged 7) for 5 hours*. "It's a win, win!", said my wife Juliet.
I want to support a charity such as inHope because during this time of isolation we don't always see or hear about the people they help, but homelessness and poverty continues to be a real issue for us a city and a nation.
InHope is a local Christian charity who provide a lifeline for homeless and vulnerable people in Bristol. Not only do they care for people in their immediate crisis of lack of food (East Bristol Foodbank and the Wild Goose Cafe) and shelter, but they also journey alongside people and provide long term support through LIFE Recovery and the Spring of Hope move-on house, to enable people to gain freedom, independence and a fulfilling life.
Thank you for reading this. Any money you give is greatly appreciated.
(* Continuous silence will be very hard for my boys - whilst I will be strict with myself, I will make allowances for them if they forget and have occasional lapses, as I know you will too!)
