Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

As some of you may be aware, Denise lost her Dad last year.  Having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 21 February 2014, Tony sadly passed away on the 8th May 2014. Almost a year on and the gaping hole left in the family as a result of Tony’s passing feels larger than ever and I have, therefore, chosen to run Brighton Marathon in an attempt to raise funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.  Unfortunately for Tony and all other victims of this disease, this particular type of cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – just 3% of those diagnosed survive for five years. It is also the only cancer that has seen no improvement in this figure over the last 40 years.   One of the factors for the low survival rate is that the cancer hides itself so well that generally little, or nothing, can be done upon diagnosis.  Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund’s mission is to defeat pancreatic cancer by funding and promoting innovative, world-class research into the disease - research that will lead to the development of more effective detection, diagnosis and treatment.
