Story
As most of my friends & family already know, my 14 year old daughter was diagnosed 13 years ago with a genetic condition called Gauchers Disease. At the time Emily's mum and I knew very little about this rare condition and needless to say it was one of the most difficult periods of our lives.
Fortunately, in addition to the tremendous support we received from Emily's doctors, we were directed to an organisation called the Gauchers Association. This not only gave us the opportunity to find out more about Emily's illness, but also the opportunity to meet families who had and were going through the same experience as us.
The association does amazing work, too much for me to detail here, ranging from the kind of support I have described above for newly diagnosed families, through helping other countries understand this rare disease to supporting research into new and improved treatments. Please visit their website for more details.
It is with all the above in mind that I felt it was time to get around to doing some fundraising for the association and the perfect opportunity has arisen this year in the form of a 60 mile bike ride from London to Cambridge on the 5th September.
It really would be great if you could make a donation via Just Giving to sponsor me, please see the details at the bottom of the page.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page;
