Story
Generally, I love nothing more than getting out on my bike. But all of us have times when our motivation falters - with me it tends to happen in the cold and wet when I'm cycling up steep hills. So, of course, I sign up to cycle over Europe's second highest pass at 2,757m. Why? Because what motivates me at those difficult moments is the thought that my efforts are serving a greater purpose - helping young people who, largely through no fault of their own, have had to deal with so much worse than I ever have.
Every penny you donate will go straight to the Life Change Fund and will be matched by my employer, thus doubling your contribution. I'm really grateful to those of you who have supported my fundraising efforts in the past - and hope you'll be able to do so again.
YMCA East Surrey's Life Change Fund aims to fund a new Y-Bus - a mobile youth club on wheels to reach young people in areas where there is little or no youth provision.
In the bus, YMCA'S trained youth workers will offer activities, advice and support to young people across East Surrey, with a focus on those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or struggling with their mental health - providing signposting to other services where needed and helping young people to succeed and reach their potential.
