We support the whole family to ensure no child is left out.

Story

We are raising money for CHIC's (Liverpool) that looks after our Nephew Freddy John Barker, and our family

Quote from Freddy's Parents:

"CHICS means the world to everyone being treated in oncology. They fundraise so that children in liverpool and surrounding areas being treated for cancer can have fun days out, as well as little treats and they always make sure all the siblings are included. CHICS put smiles on childrens faces when they don't always feel like smiling. Things happen in life that make you want to make the most of it, and CHICS make it a little bit easier for the whole family to spend quality time together doing things that we might not have made time for in the past. For Freddy personally, Eddie (family support worker) is one of his best mates now, the Liverpool - Everton banter they have is fab, Freddy can't wait to see him on appointment days and that makes it easier for me to watch him having his chemo treatment, he's happy to be there if know what I mean. The majority of times Fred's been to anfield has been down to Eddie he's even got him a liverpool coat .... :-)"

The Children's Cancer Support Group, formed in 1986, provides support and information for parents of children with cancer by the following means:

  • MEETINGS: Regular meetings to inform members about the many aspects of childhood cancers and to enable members to gain confidence by sharing their experiences with each other.

  • SOCIAL FUNCTIONS: At which you can meet other families on an informal basis.

  • NEWSLETTER: A regular newsletter in which group activities are reported.

  • INFORMATION: A small library of books, leaflets and brochures, has been established for parents to gain more information about cancer treatments and cancer related national bodies.

  • FUND-RAISING: Fund raising events are held to finance the groups activities and to enhance facilities at the hospital.

  • LINK-UPS: CHICS is a founding member of the National Alliance of Childhood Cancer Parents Organisations.

  • CARAVANS: CHICS also have a caravan, located in North Wales, for respite use.
