Story
Thanks very much for visiting my Just Giving page!
For the third year in succession, I have the honour of being invited by my good friend Alexander Milas (Editor in Chief of Metal Hammer, founding father of the Heavy Metal Cycling Club) and Rod Smallwood (legendary manager of the mighty Iron Maiden) to join with the elite brotherhood of the Heavy Metal Truants and undertake the ride from London to Castle Donington to the Download Festival.
It's 168 miles of hills, strains, blisters, nettles, rain and more hills through the English Countryside and whatever the English Summer has in store for us to our festival nirvana, where 90,000 of our closest friends wait for us. This isn't easy, my friends. And we are so dedicated to the truth that we don't make it look easy, either. Not in the least!
Here's what last year's ride looked like. Gritty footage, with lycra and injuries, I have to warn you! https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=JRwDDEL9vpI
Will this black clad organisation never quit, I hear you say?!?
No, frankly, because the causes we raise money for – with your generous help and fantastic support – continue to do incredibly vital, worthwhile and tireless work for children who are ill or vulnerable. We raise a lot of money, but every last penny is needed, and more. Each year I've done this ride I am made in awe of their work, believe me.
The three charities I'm supporting are:
Nordoff Robbins
Teenage Cancer Trust
Childline
Your support in this adventure would be so appreciated, not only by me personally but by all those that will benefit from the funds raised. Give what you can (don't forget the gift aid!) - any amount is appreciated, it truly is.
Thanks so much
