Story
On 3-7 June, a number of regulars at the Free Press pub are cycling from Cambridge, England to Paris, France in aid of Cancer Research UK. I am joining them despite being more of an irregular at this very fine pub. I'm doing it for the challenge and to raise funds for a good cause, but most importantly in honour of my Uncle Ray, who sadly passed away from cancer last December.
400 miles in 5 days is a lot more than I've ever done before. (I did manage a few days touring the very hilly west of Scotland in 2010, so I'm cautiously optimistic that I can survive this trip!) I've begun training by regularly doing the 25 mile round trip to work, but I'll be stepping it up with longer rides in evenings and weekends, and maybe going places which (unlike the vicinity of Cambridge) actually have hills.
