Story
After being inspired by Alison's brother Andrew , I started running again.
Proving to myself that I could drag my carcass around the streets for ten miles I have decided to enter the BUPA Great South Run again this year. I have also decided to run for charity this time and intend to raise money for Kidney Research UK. This is for two reasons.
The first is Alison's nephew George who underwent a kidney transplant as a baby and despite some setbacks and repeated operations now leads an active and healthy life.
From a more personal stand point, in 2005 my eldest son Joe was kicked in the back in a freak accident whilst on holiday.
He suffered internal bleeding and severe pain. It was found that he had kidney defects from birth which were just beginning to manifest themselves.
He underwent two long, complicated and painful operations.
Thanks to pioneering key hole surgery he is an active and healthy 18 year old young man who has just started reading Spanish and Philosophy at Royal Holloway University and can now look forward to life with a clean bill of health.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Kidney Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
