Story
Not something we often share, but most people will know that Oliver was diagnosed with Crohn's Inflammatory Bowel Disease when he was 9 years old. It’s been a tough 5 years for him as we navigate this horrible disease. Oliver has been so resilient throughout –being nil by mouth for 2 months (except medical shakes) to allow his bowel to heal when he was first diagnosed, hospital visits, endoscopies, monthly IV infusions, blood tests and the pain and fatigue that he suffers day to day.
His 15th birthday a few weeks ago was spent in pain on the sofa with cancelled plans. The past couple of months have seen a notable downturn with weight loss, unable to eat much, a lot of pain especially during the night and Glasgow Sick Kids are now prepping to see him for more investigations and new treatment plans as they feel his disease isn’t under control.
The Catherine McEwan Foundation has been a fantastic support during Oliver’s journey, and we are walking Dundee Kilt Walk on Sunday 11th August to raise awareness and hopefully some funds for the amazing work that they do. They have funded clinical posts, educational scholarships, support groups and much more.
Oliver is planning to do the walk with us but may not manage. We’ll see how he is on the day.
If anyone can spare a couple of pounds to sponsor us, it would be very much appreciated.
Love Team Gunn
