Story
This year I am running the Great North Run for Teenage Cancer Trust. A year later than originally planned. I am really looking forward to being on that start line, not only knowing that I am taking part in such a great event, but also knowing that me taking on this run is also helping those young people who have had their lives changed by cancer!
Cancer kills more young people than any other illness in the UK. 7 young people are diagnosed with cancer everyday in the UK. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to providing expert care and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer’. They treat them as young people first, cancer patients second and everything they do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival. At the moment, for every young person Teenage Cancer Trust help, there's another they can't. Help us reach more young people with cancer by donating towards my Great North Run challenge.
Your donations will help continue to fund and support:
- 28 specialist units in hospitals across the UK
- 48 nurses & youth support co-ordinators
- 118,000 young people reached through their face to face presentations in schools
- Nursing & support pilot - 100% reach (reaching 113 more young people than before)
- 185 hair 4U wigs
Teenage Cancer Trust also help young people by providing opportunity's to break away from treatment and to socialise with people who are going through the same treatment and understand how they are feeling. With you donations this can help provide:
