Story
Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
In 2016, I crossed the finish line at my first and only marathon. And after 4 hours and 37 minutes of what was, for large parts, a long, hard slog two words swirled around my head. Never. Again. I guess it's the same for many runners after 26.2 miles of endurance. By the end of it the sense of achievement is fantastic, but the feeling of exhaustion and pain (everywhere!) is overwhelming.
So, why am I doing it again? As my gallery page shows i've done plenty running since but all half marathons. Well, like the first one in 2016, it is in memory of my Dad who died of liver cancer in January 2006. My first marathon was in Edinburgh, a city where he was both loved and loathed in his spheres of football and business. To me he was a role model, an innovator and a true inspiration. He was a business partner and mentor. But most of all he was my father and I miss him dearly.
In 2016, with generous donations, I raised £2,500 for Cancer Research. I am aiming to beat that target and trying to beat the 4 hours and 37 minutes i set last time. It would be massively appreciated if you could help...with the money part ;). My efforts are not just be in my Dad's memory. They are also for all the other people who I know (who we all know, sadly) who have suffered, are suffering or are no longer with us as a result of cancer.
Thank you very much.
