Story

On Sunday 28th February 2021 it will be 5 years since Duncan died from a brain tumour. For Team McLean and many others time has not dulled the pain. Our memories of those few weeks leading up to that horrible weekend in the Western General are vivid and excruciating.

Next weekend, we want to remember Duncan, as we do every day, and have family and friends supporting us and thinking of their own happy memories of the good times they had with Duncan - laughs, scrapes, friendly banter, wind ups, competitive jousts and, as we've learned, on many occasions he was the bestest supportive pal to many.

We've had massive support from many of you over the past 5 years in many ways. We have also been proud, alongside many friends & family, to support The Brain Tumour Charity, a fantastic charity which is in the forefront of the fight against brain tumours, supporting vital research into earlier diagnosis and better treatment & cures as well as supporting patients and families impacted by these difficult and horrendous cancers. Research into brain tumours remains significantly underfunded and The Brain Tumour Charity like many others is desperate to maintain its financial support to world leading projects, including here in Scotland, despite the impact of the pandemic. Continued support is vital and The Duncan McLean Fund can smash the £100,000 barrier with a little bit more help - WOW !! and thank you from Team McLean!

So Margaret , Annabel, Libby and Iain are holding a Virtual Run for Duncan on 28th February. All we need is our supporters to take the time to go for a local run or walk or cycle however long, remember Duncan & the good times and make a wee donation on this JustGiving page. Or just do the run or walk or cycle or just donate. Or just be with us in spirit. If you can't do it on Sunday please do it another day. Message us on Facebook with some thoughts and a picture of your virtual "event" - we also love pictures of Duncan.

Margaret will be doing a virtual 10k walk with her sisters Mary & Isabel in Banchory & Australia - chatting all the way. Annabel & Libby will be running 10k together in Glasgow. I'll be pounding out the miles as part of my LEJOG for Duncan - my year long Lands End to John O'Groats Virtual Challenge - 874 miles ( 362 miles done since October ) & finishing with The London Marathon on 3rd October 2021 running with Annabel too

All our & Duncan's friends and relatives in Scotland and around the globe please join in and help us make 28th February Duncan's Day and a day for us to be happy & proud.
