Story
Well that's it all over for another year and a few days later the legs have finally recovered.
Looking back, there are a number of targets I set myself which, as marathon day got closer and the pressure of exam revision got on top of me, started to look slightly unrealistic.
On the plus side, despite saying I wanted to smash my time from last year with an improved training regime (such a regime never gathered pace and fluency unfortunately) I still beat my time from last year by a whole 7 seconds, which is a very small but nice way to end what has been a pretty hectic period of my life.
It will be a while before I attempt another marathon. When I do it again (and I will, definitely, some day) I want to be able to throw my entire weight and effort behind it and actually improve my personal best by a significant margin. Until then, I'll focus more on the 5ks, 10ks and half marathons...and find a good physio to sort out my 'old man knees'.
Most importantly, I'd like to thank everyone who has donated to Macmillan via this page since I set it up. Without the donations there would have been no motivation for me to do this - it's definitely not the kind of thing I'd do purely for the benefit of my health. For anyone who would still like to donate, the page actually expires in August, so there's plenty of time!
Thanks again!
