The T20 Walkathon event is instrumental in raising monies to support valued community projects, projects like the Summer Holiday Camp. The Foundation is committed to focussing and tackling the issues that effect residents of Derby and Derbyshire and recognise that food poverty is just one of many.
Food poverty in the Derwent ward in particular is most prominent as it sits within the top 2% of most deprived areas in the country. The majority of its children receiving free school meals. During the school holidays families feel the financial burden of having to find extra money to cover the costs of those meals that they would normally receive in school. In an effort to minimise this effect the summer holiday camp looks to provide children with the opportunity to take part in multisport activities and receive a healthy meal. Not only this, they'll create new friendships, discover new skills and create positive memories for life.
