Story
My name's Hywel and I have decided to take on a daunting but exciting challenge to raise money for Emmaus, a wonderful homelessness charity that I believe deserves our support. I am walking the 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path across a fortnight in May.
With a vaccine mercifully on the way, for many if us it may feel that the worst of the pandemic has passed. But sadly the economic shock is only just beginning, which will mean many people losing their homes and being forced into homelessness in the coming months and years.
For those people, charities like Emmaus can be a lifeline and provide a route back to a position where they can support themselves and rebuild their lives. The reason I have chosen Emmaus is that it focuses on that route back, which can often be forgotten when someone has been provided with a roof over their head, however precarious their circumstances.
I am specifically raising money for Emmaus South Wales because as I am completing the challenge in Wales I feel the money should stay in the country. There is also sadly a lot of poverty in the area so I know the money is badly needed.
So many people will be turning to Emmaus in the near future and I want to help to ensure they can support as many of them as possible. If you are able to, please consider donating to this brilliant charity and help them to build a road back to self-sufficiency for the people who need it most.
Thank you
Hywel
