Story
Hi all - just wanted to let you know that I’m signed up to run the London Marathon on April 28th, together with William Liu as part of a 6-person Linklaters team.
We are sponsored by Disability Law Service, the UK’s longest serving national advice service for disabled people. Linklaters is a long-standing pro bono partner to DLS and this opportunity has come through that relationship.
Each of us is trying to hit a minimum of GBP1500 in donations. I am reaching out to you to see if you can make a donation at whatever level is comfortable for you. As an added incentive, I am making a 2x matching offer - I will donate in your name to a charity of your choosing for a future athletic endeavor that you complete by April 28, 2020 (the “Offer Termination Date”), an amount (the “Contribution Amount”) equal to twice what you contribute. Doesn’t have to be a marathon - could be a 5k or a full Ironman. Doesn’t have to match the charity to the event, either. I just need to see proof (eventually) that you completed it (or best efforts), and then name your charity! The Contribution Amount shall be capped at: (i) GBP200 for any individual contributor, and (ii) GBP3000 in the aggregate (i.e., I am capping myself at GBP3000 total out-of-pocket in future donations!). I am hoping this incentivizes many smaller donations and many of you to dedicate yourselves to bettering your health for a good cause, without completely bankrupting me.
Thanks, and keep running.
