Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon 2017 · 8 October 2017 ·

The Taylor Bennett Foundation (TBF) is a UK-based charity dedicated to increasing ethnic diversity in public relations and communications. Established in 2008 by executive search firm Taylor Bennett (now Taylor Birchwood), with support from Brunswick Group, the Foundation aims to empower Black, Asian, and minority ethnic talent to pursue and thrive in communications careers. Over the past fifteen years, we have helped over 1,200 young people to start their PR and communications careers through professional development programmes. We offer fully paid, award-winning training, mentoring, and internship programmes in partnership with leading industry agencies and FTSE 100 companies. Beyond career guidance, our education and leadership programmes support participants from entry-level to executive leadership.

Story

"PR is seen as a white person's job" said a young black female to me during an interview about her degree dissertation on the topic of diversity in PR.

As the head of an agency in London, I have a deep desire (and responsibility) to change both this perception and the reality of the make-up of our workforce.

TBF is at the forefront of this mission and the funds we raise through this event will help more BAME people to get a chance in a profession which desperately needs greater diversity and, frankly, should just being doing the right thing.

I'm aiming for a sub 90 mins time, 6 mins off my PB...so it won't be a literal walk in the park!

Please give freely :)
