We help families going through Cancer to pay bills, and fund everyday items

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Cancer is one of life's Joker cards. It's dealt without prejudice to the old and young, the fit and the weak, the privileged and the poor. We've all had an experience in our time where we just wished there was something else we could do or some way to help the cause. This is my call to arms. My jungle drum. My turn to make an effort to support those in need in the name of Harry.

Harry Moseley was just a young boy about to turn 7 when he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Later, while undergoing various treatments and therapies he met a man named Robert Harley at his hospital, in the next bed, and they formed an unlikely friendship. Their plight inspired Harry to spend the next 4 years dedicating his time, effort and energy to trying to help others. He begun by making bracelets to sell for cancer charities and went on to begin the "Help Harry Help Others" campaign in 2009; delivering speeches and presentations to many, many schools and organisations.

After 6 weeks in hospital together and being sent home their various test and scan schedules aligned so they would be in regular contact to check in on each other's progress and Harry and his family visited Robert at this home. In a sad turn of events, though, Robert's condition deteriorated and he passed away shortly after.

In Harry's own words he said......"Sadly 4 weeks into my campaign, my special friend Robert died. This makes me very sad and although my campaign is going really well, I wish I had started it sooner.

I can no longer help Robert, but I know that he was proud of me and he wore my bracelet too. As Robert was my inspiration I have now decided to dedicate my campaign in memory of him as this is my way of keeping his memory alive and something I know he would have helped and supported me with if he was with us today. I live in the hope that one day there will be a cure for brain tumours and with your help, we can help others."...

Harry won many awards for his fundraising and dedication to the cause including a JustGiving Lifetime Achievement Award, Britains Kindest Kid 2009-10 & the News of the world Children's Champions Award.

In 2011, after 14 weeks in a coma, Harry passed away peacefully at home in his Mothers arms but he left a legacy which his Mother has carried on in his memory - the Help Harry Help Others charity. The charity provide funding for Cancer research, Grants for families in need and Care and Support outside of treatment to help people deal with and come to terms with the fallout from illness.

I have been inspired by Harry's and others within our small group's story to go out and try to do something. Anything. So here we are now. I have signed up to ride, with a group of colleagues, from my parent companies office in Amsterdam to the office in Coventry, passing by every other office on the way. We'll be riding around 100miles/day to cover the 500 plus mile distance between all of the offices.  I feel that is a more than suitable challenge to warrant a small charitable donation in Harry's, or any other cancer sufferers, memory to Help Harry Help Others.

I would appreciate if you would take a look at Harry's full story, as delivered by him, on his website - http://hhho.org.uk - and I hope it, too, will inspire you to do Something. Such an amazing, selfless youngster who achieved so much in a short space of time.
