What is a Human Hamster event?
In aid of the Plaxtol Village Virtual Fete 2020, my Daddy and I are going to become a Human Hamsters for 16 days. From Monday 6th July to Wednesday 22nd July, my Daddy and I will cycle as fast as we can for 1.5 hours a day. My Daddy for one hour and me for 30 mins Every day we will count how far we have traveled and how many times we have turned the back wheels of our bicycles.
How do you sponsor the Human Hamsters?
Entries are open from today until midnight on Tuesday 21st July. You can guess either:
- how many kilometres you think we will travel over this time
- how many times you think we might turn the back wheels of our bicycles
Of course, you can guess both if you want to.
Entry donations are a £2 per guess and must be made via this page. When you enter please leave your guesses in the comments box.
Please guess as many times as you’d like!
How will the winners be decided?
All entries must be made by midnight on Tuesday 21st July. On Wednesday 22nd July, which is the last day of the school term, the Human Hamsters will publish how many kilometres we have cycled and how many times we turned our back wheels. The closest guess in
each category will win either a soft cuddly hamster toy or a bottle of
champagne (if you are over 18).
Where will the money raised go to?
Sadly we are unable to run the Plaxtol School summer fete this year. The summer fete is normally a substantial fundraiser for the school so this will have a big impact on the money available to help support the school during lockdown and for sourcing lots of other equipment for the next academic year. Some of the items we need to buy include an online reading scheme, the subscription to Tapestry (an online learning portal) and replacement shade tents to maintain bubbles for outside learning and play. Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
