Story

Katie is 44 and has lost over seven stone in weight whilst learning to run again. Meri, 21, is her daughter, the eldest of four children.

Despite recent publicity surrounding planned and actual changes to the law surrounding domestic abuse, you may not have heard of Women's Aid, the charity working to end domestic violence against women and children. Their support for those affected by domestic abuse includes local offices, shelters and a helpline, as well as an education programme (The Freedom Programme) which is offered in some areas and helps women to understand their situation and how to avoid it again in the future.

We would like to show our support for Women's Aid by running the Cardiff Half Marathon in our 'act' vests and raising as much money as we can whilst we do. The idea of running 13.2 miles would have been unthinkable for Katie just two years ago, when she was trapped by much more than just her weight! Please help us to help the charity that saves lives in maybe a less obvious way than other charities and which makes a huge difference to those who rely upon its services to build better futures.

Thank you.
