Story
Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who died on duty.
COPS provides peer support opportunities and access to counselling services to help surviving family members (‘survivors’) rebuild their shattered lives.
Between July 29 and August 1 2021 I will be cycling with 150 other Police Officers between The Mall in London and the National Arboretum in Staffordshire to raise money for this charity. Its about 305km over two and a bit days.
I am a volunteer officer in The Met and a relative "johnny come lately" to Policing but from what I have seen and learned in the last year is that the Police do a difficult job often in high pressure, dangerous and sometimes impossible situations and so out of respect for them is my respect for those who have died in service and for their families. Thats why I am doing it.
