Story

Every year fans join together to raise money as a present for Harry’s birthday. This year we are asking for support to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK for Harry’s 26th Birthday.

Parkinson’s Uk is an amazing organization doing incredible work to provide support to those living with Parkinson’s and helping to find better treatments and a cure for those living with the illness.

Parkinson’s UK is a very fitting organization that is close to Harry and his family. Harry’s mother, Anne Twist, has openly supported the organization on numerous occasions and has spoken out about why the cause is so dear to her and her family. In 2009, Harry’s grandfather, Anne’s dad, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Since then, the family have attended awareness events for Parkinson’s with Anne heading her own fundraisers for the organization.

Parkinson’s doesn’t necessarily enter your radar until someone you know is diagnosed.” – Anne Twist

What is Parkinson’s?

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine because some of the nerve cells that make it have died. It is not yet known exactly why people get Parkinson's, but researchers believe there is a combination of genetic and environmental factors that cause the dopamine-producing nerve cells to die.

Who is Parkinson's UK?

Founded in 1969, originally Parkinson’s Disease Society, Parkinson’s UK is a dynamic network of expert staff, health and social care professionals, volunteers and researchers.
