Story
Sewa is a sanskrit term meaning 'selfless service to humanity and nature'.Inspired by this term, HSS Sewa is fundraising for small to medium sized charities close to our neighbourhoods, and occasionally supporting major disaster appeals. These charities do amazing work, but most do not often get national attention. As part of our drive to support community based charitable causes, each of our regions in over 65 towns and cities, aims to support at least one charity. Our volunteers of young children supported by parents and well-wishers will walk, run, cycle, swimetc to enlist your moral and financial support. Please support generously!Thank you.*All donations will be donated to selected charity. The Gift Aid portion shall be used for the minimal expense incurred such as printing and any other administrative costs incurred by HSS (UK).
This year HSS(UK) Birmingham are raising funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice. The Hospice provides specialist palliative care for life limited and life threatened babies, children and young people and support for their families around Birmingham.
One of our swayamsevaks, Late Shyam Chandegra was a regular HSS swayamsevak of Birmingham Nagar and an ambassador of Acorns Hospice, honoured by the City of Birmingham Lord Mayor. We are walking for all the differently abled children of Acorns Hospice, whom Shyam lived for and supported.
More details about Acorns can be found at https://www.acorns.org.uk/
