HRG Day is a global day of celebration that unites us all, wherever we are in the world. It’s a day that enables us all to get involved and have some fun fundraising, in supporting ActionAid and celebrating being part of Hogg Robinson Group. Plus, this year marks our 10 year partnership with ActionAid, so it really is a day of celebration.
More than anything, HRG Day is about making a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. We are proud to have supported ActionAid since 2007 – in that time more than 14,000 employees around the world have participated in a wide variety of fundraising activities raising an incredible £463,600 for ActionAid’s projects.
This year we will continue to support and raise vital funds for the ActionAid Emergency Action Fund. The money raised will enable ActionAid to continue providing life-saving assistance including food, shelter, clean water and psycho-social support after an emergency, and be there in the long-term to help people living in poverty to cope in emergencies and prepare for the future.
In 2016, our fundraising efforts were able to offer valuable support when Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti on 4 October 2016. ActionAid were able to provide immediate emergency relief that benefited 168,000 people in the form of food packages, hygiene & cholera prevention kits and tarpaulin for emergency shelters. ActionAid are now focusing on rebuilding vital infrastructure, re-establishing lost livelihoods and increasing the capacity of their partners to continue support for those most affected.
