Last January, it was with great joy I learnt that our granddaughter, Dora Rose, was born, only to hear that she had only survived for a short while. This was totally unexpected and a devastating blow.
Her parents have been strong and resilient, yet needed and have been impressed with the support given by the local branch of Sands. Up to 17 young babies a day die, and Sands nationally promotes research to reduce these losses.
I have felt a growing need to do something in Dora's memory. With my son responsible for starting my interest in fell walking almost 25 years ago, it was an easy decision to do the coast to coast walk. I should be starting at Robin Hoods Bay in late May, for the first 70 miles, followed by the remaining 120 miles to St Bees Head in July
Please donate to this worthy charity, most of which will go to the local support group, but with a portion also to the national work. Thank you.
