Freya’s Story……..
I'm running the 2018 Virgin London Marathon on 22th April, raising money for Leukaemia Care.
In November 2016 my niece, Freya, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and was admitted to Ward 84 at Manchester Children’s Hospital for immediate treatment.
Freya completed the first part of her intensive chemotherapy treatment in September 2017 with another 18 months of oral chemo meds which will be administered from home. She has returned to school and is now enjoying seeing her friends after a long 9 months, some of which was spent at home and some in hospital.
Freya is a very active 9 year old girl who plays Netball for Oldham and her school as well being part of the school swimming and cross county teams. This has understandably been difficult and sometimes frustrating for her to adjust to life without the things that she loves the most. She has however been a tower of strength throughout it all and not complained once. She’s an inspiration to us all!!
Leukaemia CARE is a national blood cancer support charity that provides vital information, and support to all whose lives have been affected by a blood or lymphatic cancer diagnosis, including carers and families who support the patients.
