Story
IN MEMORY OF DENNIS MITCHELL
In 1985 Dennis Mitchell set up the Rendezvous Society, now known as Global Footsteps. Global Footsteps is an educational charity which acts as a connecting force between grassroots communities around the world to build resilience and resourcefulness. It does this by building and maintaining global partnerships, fostering cooperation and understanding across cultures, and bringing people together to volunteer and learn.
Last year Dennis sadly died whilst cycling a tricycle that he bought in Torun. He was cycling this tricycle from Cheltenham to Swansea on his way to a Quaker camp.
You might think Chetlenham to Swansea is a long way to cycle. But Dennis bought the tricycle in Torun and cycled it all the way home to Cheltenham.
The challenge of running the Torun Santas Half Marathon is nothing in comparison with what Dennis did. A shame he wasn't sponsored. This is the least I can do and it seems appropriate to remember Dennis by running in Torun.
I will run the Torun half-marathon on Sunday 4 December 2011. Torun is Cheltenham's linked town in Poland, and Global Footsteps has done much over the years to establish and promote links with this town. All your sponsorship moeny will go towards furthering the work of Global Footsteps in support of its overseas links and educational volunteering opportunities. You can read all about our recent and planned projects on the Global Footsteps website.
Thank you!

I completed the Torun Santa-Claus Half Marathon on Sunday 4th December in full Father Christmas costume in 2 Hours & 40 minutes. Thankyou to all those people who have sponsored me so far, the just giving page remains open if you would like to sposor me in aid of Global-Footsteps. www.Global-Footsteps.org
Once again Thankyou.
