Story
We are Carly's Sole Mates - THANK YOU for taking the time to visit our fundraising page!
Shine London is a 26.2 mile walk on Saturday 29th September 2012 from Battersea Power station, along the south side of the River Thames right into the very heart of London - and then back again - all under the cover of the night!
We are doing this mammoth walk in memory of Carly Bryan. Tragically, Carly died last year after a long battle with cancer, leaving her family, including her husband Paul and baby son Jamie behind. We have no doubt that their memories of her are wonderful and very precious, but she was a very young woman and should still be here enjoying life to the full.
Cancer affects so many of us. It seems, so sadly, that it weaves its way into all of our lives in some way or another, be it a personal diagnosis, that of a relative, or of a friend.
Carly was our colleague, but she was also a very friendly person - and she was our friend. We all miss her cheeky ways very much, and are dedicating this walk to her memory and hope to raise a substantially, enormously large sum of money for Cancer Research UK.
Carly's last days were spent in the Keech Hospice in Luton, who we know looked after her so well. All cancer charities are essential, and raising awareness and money enables them to provide valuable research, equipment and support to those who are affected by this terrible disease - and that means to all of us.
The walk begins at 9pm. For some of the groups more speedy walkers (the type who run up all 11 flights of stairs at Barnet House) it will be a walk completely in the dark! For others (who favour the lift) it'll be a walk in the dark and right into the light of day, quite possibly into lunchtime...
So, look around you now. Which one of your colleagues - your friends might not be there next year? Would you miss them? Would you wish you could have done something to help them? Well, you can:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving. They will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate they will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Please dig deep for the memory of this lovely person, and for the eradication of cancer from all of our lives.
Thank you all for your very kind support xx
