Three Peaks 24hr Challenge · 5 June 2021
At the beginning of this year a family member and close friend to us, Sophie, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma at 31 years of age and just 3 months after giving birth to her first child. Her world was turned upside down. Sophie has recently started her 9 month intense treatment plan which includes chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery to cure her cancer. To help raise awareness of such a rare disease she is documenting her journey through Instagram @sticking_it_to_sarcoma. Give her a follow she really is incredible!
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue it is difficult to diagnose and hard to treat.
We want to do whatever we can to help, keep hopes high and show our love and support to Sophie and the charity. Sarcoma UK have been amazing from the beginning and now more than ever need fundraisers.
Long walks have become our new social (distanced) so......Team Hot Rocks (don't ask) was born! We decided to put our walking boots to the test and trek the National Three Peaks in 24 hours!! Ben Nevis, Scafell pike and Snowdon are the three tallest mountains on the British mainland. To achieve this in 24hrs we will be climbing and descending throughout the night into the early morning with a total walking distance of 23 miles (37km) ascending 3064 metres (10.052ft), throw in some rain and cold weather were good to go! This will be hard and will certainly push and challenge us, but in no way will it compare to what Sophie or anyone battling cancer goes through.
We are self-funding our trip so all the money we raise will go directly to Sarcoma UK. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep their support lines open and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care. But most of all will show your Support for Sophie.
This really is close to our hearts and appreciate any donation you make. Thank you so much! xxx
