Story
Macmillan give people with cancer everything they've got. They make the most unbearable somehow bearable and make the fight just a bit less terrible. They are lifesavers and they are funded by donations.
If your life hasn't been touched by cancer you're very fortunate, but sadly the chances are it will be, and if it is Macmillan will be there.
So to try and swell their coffers, I'm walking the South Coast Mighty Hike on 11th June 2022 as part of Team Hot Flash with my fab friend Jos. I'd be made up if you want to make a donation to encourage my training and actually finishing. If your support comes as friendship, joining me in training or general advice that's so very appreciated too. It’ll take more than money to get me over the line 😆.
The furthest I have ever walked before this is a fairly flat 14 miles, and that was about 8 years ago - before I was diagnosed with MS and before the fabulous 'hot flash' was a thing. Last weekend I walked 9 hilly miles and was beat, so I have way to go to manage 26 miles, not to mention the 3000+ feet of ascent (I mean, that's a Munro!).
This is a properly difficult challenge and it's going to take more than I currently have to complete. So I'll post updates on my training here if you want to keep tabs. I've even thoughtfully (!) linked my Strava account so you'll see if I'm really doing it!!
Thank you for your support, whatever shape it takes x
