Every year Children's Hospital Radiothon is held in the lobby of Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, broadcasting live on each of the seven Entercom Upstate stations: 106.3 WORD, ESPN Upstate, Classic Rock 101.1, 93.3 The Planet, Magic 98.9, B93.7, and 96.3 The Block. The 2019 Radiothon will be held August 8 and 9.Throughout the two days of Radiothon, on-air personalities share stories and interviews from patients and families who have been served by Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Upstate departments, programs and services. What do Radiothon funds support? Funds raised through Radiothon support special services for patients at Children's Hospital that enhance their experience and give them a sense of normalcy while they are in the hospital. Anna Crooks 

When she was four years old, Anna fell off of a bed and hit her leg, which later became swollen and badly bruised. Her mother took her to her pediatrician, who ran blood tests and immediately sent them to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Upstate!

Anna was diagnosed with Leukemia. During the next three years, she came to the hospital every two weeks for chemo, as well as anytime she was sick. Her Child Life Specialist used Anna’s favorite doll to demonstrate procedures and showed her the playroom, which was stocked with games, toys, and craft supplies. Anna also attended Camp Courage during her treatment.

Anna is now a Prisma Health–Upstate Hospital School Program teacher! She offers direct instruction and tutoring, administers exams, and keeps in touch with the patient’s school so they don’t fall behind while they are in the hospital.

At Prisma Health Children's Hospital–Upstate, our hospital school teacher serves as a liaison between the hospital and the patient’s school, acting as an advocate for the patient to help meet their educational needs.
