Story
Welcome to our Just Giving Page!
We are 3 healthcare workers who are all employed by Hospice IOM! Together, we aim not only to take on physical challenge of the Parish Walk but also to raise awareness of who we are and what we do for Hospice IOM. As we are often referred to as ‘Angels’ by our patients and their relatives, it seemed a fitting team name! We would love to get to Peel (32.5miles) as a team and would love your support.
So let us introduce ourselves…
Hannah Wren-Kennish joined Hospice’s Integrated Care Team in May 2021. She is an experienced Healthcare Assistant drawn to Hospice for their brilliant reputation of the highest quality care. Although Hannah’s aspirations as to ultimately be a qualified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist, she at present has the pleasure of looking after palliative patients and loves being able to give them all the respect and care they deserve to achieve a good death. Be that in the In-patient ward at Hospice, or supported to die at home with our Hospice at Home team.
Caitlin Barlow is qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2020 graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University before starting also with Hospice in May 2021. Throughout her training and in her first job, she was able to witness the difference for the patients and their loved ones when their needs are sufficiently met towards the end of their life and the positive impact this can have. Her aspirations were to make this positive different for people. Similarly to Hannah, she sees working for Hospice IOM a privilege as she is a part of a brilliant integrated care team supporting people to die where they want to, in a completely person-centred way. She is at the beginning of a very exciting career as a Registered Nurse.
Emma Whiting is one of the Integrated Care Team Leaders for Hospice IOM. She joined Hospice IOM following her degree in Adult Nursing in 2017 and has seen her role change from Registered Nurse to Senior RN to Service Manager. Following a placement in her final year as a Student Nurse, she knew Hospice was the speciality for her. The perfect balance of hands-on basic nursing care, complex communication and medication management means each day is challenging however incredibly rewarding. Nearly 5 years in she hasn’t struggled to get up for her alarm before 6am!
