This year, pupils, staff and parents of Hull Collegiate School will be coming together to take part in the Hull 10k and Hull Half on Sunday 2nd June. This is the fourth year we have put a team together after taking part in our first event in 2016. We have been fundraising for Candlelighters, who support children and families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire. We chose Candlelighters after the charity supported a pupil, Hope Rooms, and her family. Hope's inspiring attitude towards her illness led to her being named the Hull Daily Mail's Pride of East Yorkshire in 2014 and in 2015 she won the United Learning's Young Hero Award. Sadly, Hope passed away in 2016 but Candlelighters continue to support her family and we have continued our fundraising in her memory.
Our team of mixed ability runners are taking part in the Hull 10k and the Hull Half this June along with Hope’s parents Julie and David. 17 year old Lucy Attree is also a member of our team. Lucy had Chemotherapy for Hodgkins Lymphoma alongside Hope at Leeds General, Candlelighters helped them too and were brilliant!
In addition to running the Hull 10K, PE Teacher Fraser Henderson, is also taking part in a Sky Dive.
