Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have set ourselves the challenge of running a Half Marathon in November. Running comes easier to some of us in the team than others. Jules in particular, has been known to strongly voice her lack or running abilities so this will be a big challenge. We thought that if we could use this opportunity to raise some money and awareness for a charity close to our hearts then that's an extra incentive to get across the finish line.
Hope and Kindness has been a big part of our lives for 15 years and we have seen it evolve over this time. The past few years have thrown up new challenges due to Covid and support is needed now as much as ever.
Hope and Kindness has spent the last twenty years providing a safe and caring school for children to grow strong and to learn well – to help them to overcome the challenges of being born in a place where there is rarely enough of any of their most basic needs. Last year Covid- 19 kept most of them out of school for over 9 months. Together with their teachers, the Standard 8 exam class worked really hard to achieve their best ever results but now the government is asking teachers and children to complete two academic years and two sets of National Exams in less than 18 months. Like the world over, the impact of this pandemic has significantly increased the price of every item that the school has to buy … to feed, to clothe and to teach the children.
Any donation, no matter how small, would be much appreciated. It will go towards the ongoing work in Kenya to make sure that the children continue to eat well, feel smart and enjoy good lessons with all the resources that a good classroom needs.
