Story
In May 2019 our world came crashing down with Honia’s Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis and then again in December 2020 with the news that it has spread to her lungs.
Our lives have changed forever and we are aware that there is no going back. We don’t know how long we’ve got together but then, does anyone? With that in mind we are trying very hard to focus on the little things in life that matter. We still laugh a lot, we go hiking, we go running. We cuddle on the sofa, dance in the kitchen and take in those precious moments in the rare moments of calm.
We work hard to stay positive but this often becomes an elusive concept and we’re still learning how to process the huge tally of emotions that affect us on daily basis. A single day can often bring anything from an overwhelming feeling of happiness and love to a downward spiral of fear, rage, grief, anxiety, sorrow and despair. We fall apart within seconds; we take days to glue ourselves back together.
And when we run on empty, it is the love, kindness and strength of people around us that carries us through and we are forever grateful for the support we are receiving for our efforts to fundraise for St Teresa’s Hospice, where Honia receives complementary treatment to help her manage the side effects of medication.
They have been supporting residents of Darlington, South Durham and North Yorkshire for more than 30 years and rely on their local community to raise over 70% of their total income each year. These are unprecedented times; with the outbreak of COVID-19 there is likely to be disruption to their usual fundraising activities with an adverse effect on income.
Please, consider giving a gift to St Teresa's Hospice today to help them to get through this difficult time, and to make sure those who
need care and support can continue to access it.
With Love
Honia and Family
