Story
Over the past few days, news has leaked of a Cambridge student burning a £20 note in front of a homeless person. Slowly taking over national media (from broadsheets like the Independent to jokier media such as the ‘Ladbible’), every single one of us feels ashamed of the actions of this one individual.
However the fundamental issue at hand is a far deeper one. Homelessness is far too prevalent in Cambridge, and it's time we ALL did something about it.
I ask you to donate a symbolic £20. £20 provides up to 20 meals for Jimmy's guests on any given day. £26 is the cost for a homeless person to have a bed, evening meal and breakfast, for each night. If we work together to bring about social change, then we can truly touch so many lives.
Let us respond to the problems in our society by working together. Let us show the world the kind and compassionate people we are. Let us get homelessness off our streets, making our society a better place for everyone. After all, isn't making a positive, meaningful, difference the reason why we all applied to Cambridge?
