Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I think I was 6 the first time I heard the word Cancer I didnt know what it meant but I knew it wasnt nice even then, as it seemed to be the word that made the grown ups sad and my Dad cry, Two years later that word was the reason my Mum was gone...
Years later now as an Adult I still see the devasting effects that terminal illness has, not just on the patient but on loved ones who desperately need support in what can often be their darkest hours.
This year a massive hole was left in the lives of everyone who had ever had the pleasure of meeting and being friends with Dave "Knighty" Knight...as on the 7th Feb 2013 he sadly lost his battle against a brain tumour. Dave was a wonderful Husband Father and Grandfather. He was an amazing friend funny, warm, kind and generous and he could brighten a room just by walking into it. He would always be up for a laugh a song and dance and the memories he leaves will be cherished always.
Even when he was diagnosed he refused to let it beat him and with the support of family, Friends and his best girl Maureen by his side he fought it every step of the way.
St Francis Hospice and thier dedicated team of staff took care of Dave with dignity and respect and an unmatchable level of dedication. Their support not only extends to the patient but to the famillies and friends of everyone in their care. Because of St Francis my last memory of Dave is a happy one him smiling in bed with his favourite tv show on his family around him and his favourite Guinness there if he wanted.
All of the services that they provide are free of charge with a catchment area covering nearly a million people, its costing £21,000 A DAY to provide the full range of services across the catchment area (£13,000 of which has to be raised by themselves) which is why fundraising and donations are so important
Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can on my skydive for Knighty and St Francis Hospice...I want to raise as much as I can for them so that the care and support can continue to be provided for the families that need it....One day it could be me or you that may need the love and support of this amazing charity xxxxx
