Story
Holly has had Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) since the age of 4. JIA is a rheumatic condition affecting children and young people. CCAA is a volunteer led charity run by people who have been affected by JIA and are passionate about supporting others. In September 2018 Holly and her family went away on a weekend organised by CCAA. During the weekend Holly made friends with other children who also have JIA and still keeps in touch with them by email. She learnt that she's not alone in dealing with this chronic illness that there are other boys and girls having weekly meds by injection, feeling sick from side affects of medicines, missing school for various hospital appointments, being unable to "keep up with their peers", experiencing stiff, swollen and painful joints and living with the consequences that arthritis can have on joints that are still developing. Did you know for example arthritis in kids knees stimulates growth but arthritis in kids feet stalls growth? Holly wants to raise money for CCAA so another family can have this valuable experience and support they offer.
