Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you know, I have suffered with Pulmonary Embolisms (blood clots in the lung) the first time being on May 10th 2012, it seems fitting to now be running my first 10k on May 10th 2015.

I was a healthy ish 22 year old and never had anything medically wrong before, this came as a total shock and the clots formed in my lungs, not in my legs as some peoples do. In total, I have had 14 blood clots (13 found in May 2012 and 1 big one found in May 2013) in both lungs, the biggest being the size of my hand. I am now on medication for the rest of my life that needs to be monitored weekly to keep me from clotting again.

I have been through a journey both physically and emotionally which brings me to this point today. My lungs took a battering and at my worst point, I found it hard to breathe on a daily basis. My own health over the past year has massively improved because I took the decision to change my lifestyle, my mindset and my focus. I have been training to try and finish my first 10k in a good time for my chosen charity to prove to myself and everyone else out there who have suffered with similar that there is hope, never give up and the importance of overall health after trauma.

I hope this brings awareness about blood clots, how they can form and also raises much needed money for my chosen charity. There needs to be more awareness of blood clots for all ages, more research into the development of Anti Coagulant medication and preventing things like this happening and ending people's lives on a daily basis.

Please dig deep, every little helps and every penny is appreciated.
