Story
I know, I know…. In 2019 I said I was only doing this once…. but it turns out, I was wrong!
As I’ve done every year, I put my name in the ballot for the London Marathon knowing that I’d never get a place (well I haven’t got in via the ballot for the last 10+ years!) but how wrong was I?
Getting a ballot place is a challenge in itself, so it looks like I’m doing it…. Even though I’m definitely no where near as fit as I was in 2019 when I last ran.
Getting in the ballot means that I don’t have to raise thousands for charity, but I’d be silly not to take the opportunity to raise a few quid (because after all, I’m only doing this… twice!)
There are lots of charities that mean a lot to me, but the British Legion has a special place in my heart. This charity is there for service men and women, who have put their lives on the line, so that we can enjoy the lives that we have today.
Both of my Grandad's and my Nan served in WW2 (according to my Nan, she won the war single handedly!). My Grandad even sold poppies for the British Legion every year and I have fond memories of wearing my poppy with pride each year and thinking of them all.
Please feel free to donate as much, or as little as you can for a really worthy cause.
And I will do my best to make my way round the 26.2 miles, without the use of an ambulance! Just be sure to have a large glass/bottle of wine waiting for me when I cross the line with my medal!
Thank you all x x x
