We are taking part in Action For M.E.'s Walk With M.E.
The idea is to walk 1 million steps before Sunday 12th May, which is M.E. awareness day. We'd love for you to sponsor us or even better, set up your own team!
As many know, I am one of the 250,000 people in the UK who live with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological condition that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. Due to M.E. I am housebound, but feel very fortunate to no longer be bed-bound and am immensely grateful to be able to do about 180 steps most days to contribute towards our 1 million. Over these last 7 years, my family and friends have also acutely felt the effects of this illness, M.E. has not just changed my life but also the lives of everybody supporting me, and I cannot thank them enough for taking part in this challenge for me and all the others whose lives have been changed immeasurably, and some even lost, due to this disease.
People with M.E. experience debilitating pain, fatigue and a range of other symptoms associated with post-exertional malaise, the body and brain’s inability to recover after expending even small amounts of energy. The range and severity of symptoms varies greatly across this illness, but in all its forms it is extremely debilitating.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any support such as donating or sharing our page is very much appreciated and will help us reduce the stigma and ignorance which surrounds M.E.
