Story
The numbers of babies dying suddenly and unexpectedly in the UK has reduced by over 70% since 1991 thanks to The Lullaby Trust. I'm a trustee of this small charity doing exceptionally effective work. They stop babies dying. They give hope to parents who have gone through the tragedy of having a baby die and help and support these families to go on to have more children. I have met many of these inspirational parents who have had the strength and the bravery to have more children. The majority say this wouldn’t have been an option without the support of the Lullaby Trust’s ‘Care of Next Infant’ programme (CONI).
Over 300 babies still die every year of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), in the UK. Through simple health messaging the Lullaby Trust is on track to half this by 2020.
I have decided to enter Run to the Beat, my first half marathon, to raise as much money as possible for this brilliant charity. I am not a natural gazelle, as you will know – more of a pack horse - and whilst this isn’t a marathon, just over 13 miles is a big challenge for me!
Thank you greatly for any support that you’re able to give.
