Story
Hi Everyone
So I’m going to run a marathon!!! Arghhhhh
I’ve been told Manchester is a flat course with no hills so I’m hoping this is true when I set out to conquer 26.2 miles (never forget the .2 it’s very important)
As many of you may know Holly spent most of last year in critical care and us as a family went through quite a lot of life changing situations.
We nearly lost Holly on numerous occisions but miraculously and with the amazing determination she has shown we pulled through and were able to leave hospital again with her.
Unfortunately the last year really took its toll on Holly’s body and her whole self with lots of symptom management changes and sadly a massive deteriation in Holly’s condition.
One aspect was that her osterperosis hit an all time low with her recently having fractured legs and being in plaster for a considerable time with both leg, also we noticed Holly was experiencing a lot of pain but were unsure where it was coming from.
A scan later revealed that Holly’s bone structure had got so bad that every time we moved her she was getting micro fractures all over her body and especially her spine.
This was proving really difficult for us to manage as a family as we had to minimise the amount of movement we were doing with Holly but she still needed to be active especially to keep her chest clear and healthy.
We found ourselves stuck in Holly’s bedroom and confined to caring for her just at her bedside as her chair was too painful for her.
We knew what we needed but we had no way of funding it,it was a specialist piece of equiptment that would enable Holly to be mobile again but more importantly it would enable us all to come together as a family again.
This is where the amazing strongbones Charity stepped in and helped us to get the equiptment we needed. Things had become quite desperate for us at this point and without them helping us I’m not sure how we would of got through.
They are such an outstanding charity and the support they provide to many children living with life limiting conditions is so vital and I wanted to show them how much I appreciate the help we have received from them.
So please please if you can think of any way of helping me to support them then please get in touch but also if you would love to support this amazing charity and my journey of 26.2 miles then I would be eternally grateful.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story I’ll update as I go along.
